DYHA is pleased to announce that Ray Terrell has been hired to provide on-ice skills development for the 2016-17 season.  Ray will be joined on the ice by Chris Hitchcock and Zach Cobb, both of whom have extensive playing and coaching backgrounds.

Ray is a long-time member of the Seacoast hockey community and currently serves as Head Coach of our GS Wild Mite U8 team.  Ray was the head coach of the Dover High School varsity hockey team for 10 seasons, leading the team to championships in 2004, 2005 and 2008.  During that time, he sent 9 players on to play at the college level.  Ray also served as the Skills Director for the Seacoast Spartans from 2003-2008.  During his time with the Seacoast Spartans, he trained numerous players who went on to play NCAA DI and DIII college hockey.  Most notable are Brian Dumoulin, who was a member of the Stanley Cup winning Pittsburgh Penguins this past season, and Garnet Hathaway of the Calgary Flames.  During his 8 years with the Spartan organization, Ray also led his Midget teams to three New England Tier 1 Championships, which earned them three USA Hockey National Championship appearances (2002, 2003 and 2005).

In addition, we are extremely pleased to have Chris Grassie serving as a skills development consultant, helping to develop practice plans and other aspects of our skills program.  Chris played college hockey at UNH, played a number of years in the AHL and ECHL, and has a long and distinguished resume within both youth hockey and junior hockey across New England.

All of us on the Board feel extremely fortunate to have a Ray and Chris available to step in as the leaders of our on-ice skills development program for the 2016-17 season.  The skill set and experience they bring to the organization will provide a tremendous benefit to our young players.

Off-ice skills training programs will continue to be provided by Leach Brothers Hockey through at least the end of October.  The Board is currently working with LBH and other professional athletic training organizations in the area to ensure the continuity of our off-ice skills program for the remainder of the 2016-2017 season.  Providing off-ice training is a priority for us organizationally and we are working diligently to ensure that high quality off-ice programs will continue to be offered.  More information on this will be communicated once a final decision is reached in the coming weeks.

Andrew Leach will remain as the Coaching Director for Dover Youth Hockey for the 2016-17 season, allowing for a smooth transition as we move forward into the next chapter of DYHA.

Good luck to all of our GS Wild and Dover Stars teams in the coming seaons!
