Congratulation to the Granite State Wild Squirt Minors (08) team for winning the New England Premier League U9 Premier Division championship this past weekend!

The team entered the weekend as the #1 seed in the top tier of the NEPHL U9 division and showed why with convincing wins over the New England Stars and CT Chiefs.

Sunday's quarter final game was a 1 vs 4 matchup against the New England Stars (Tyngsboro, MA) Sunday morning at Rodman Arena in Walpole, MA. The Wild scored within the first 45 second of the first period and never looked back, shutting the Stars 5-0. Several players scored for the Wild, with Garrit Turcotte, Devin McEvoy, Tyler Jean, Parker Wheeler and Ayden Lemay all finding the back of the net.  Cole Levesque, Kasey Siering and James Rogers all all helped out the cause with assists.

The championship game later that afternoon pitted the Wild against the 3rd seeded Connecticut Chiefs (Newington, CT.).  The team fell behind late in the first period, but quickly responded with a goal of their own by Garrit Turcotte to knot the game at 1-1 after the 1st period.

Benefiting from the stellar play of net minder Colby Strum, and goals by Turcotte and Rogers, the Wild then grabbed the lead partway into the 2nd period and finished the frame with a 3-1 lead.

The Chiefs roared back early in the 3rd to close the gap, but 2 additional goals from Turcotte and a tally for Drew Tremblay had the Wild in the driver's seat with a 6-4 lead late in the 3rd. The Chiefs continued to fight hard and found themselves on a power play with just over 2 minutes left in the game.  Hoping to chip away at the Wild lead the Chiefs added yet another attacker when they pulled their goalie, but failed to capitalize and saw a 200 foot empty net goal by Kasey Siering float in to seal their fate and a 7-4 victory for the Wild!
